Feeding
Starting solids with your baby
When your baby is around 6 months old and showing signs of readiness, you'll face choices about how to introduce solids—and there's genuinely no single "right" way. You might spoon-feed purées, let your baby grab soft foods themselves (baby-led weaning), or blend both approaches. Research suggests each method can work well for nutrition and development. Baby-led weaning may help some children develop better eating habits and independence, though evidence is still emerging. The most important things? Make sure your baby gets proper nutrition (especially iron and zinc, regardless of method), supervise closely during meals, and pick an approach that feels manageable for your family. Talk openly with your pediatrician about what you're planning—they're there to support your choices and make sure your little one is growing well.
