Toddler
Nap Transitions and Sleep Needs
Your toddler's sleep needs change as they grow, and knowing what's typical helps you feel less worried when things shift. Most toddlers do well with age-appropriate amounts of sleep—neither too much nor too little matters for their behavior and emotional health. As your child moves from two naps to one, or from naps to no naps, expect some bumps. The research suggests that hitting that sweet spot of consistent, moderate sleep helps your toddler's mood, behavior, and even their developing heart health. If you're unsure whether your child is sleeping enough, think about their daytime behavior: are they managing frustration okay? Do they seem calm most of the time? That's often a better gauge than clock-watching. Consistency matters more than perfection—aim for a routine that works for your family.
